Give me a Colleoni.

What do you get when you put together a sweet arena (with pro hockey and soccer teams), an amazing concert hall, a baseball stadium and “the handsomest creative agency in the whole world” (Thanks, Dre’s mom)? Answer: an awesome city.
Now we can add another entry to that list. Our favorite mayor Cory Booker just headlined the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Colleoni Apartments, the sparkling result of a renovation of what was an historic but run-down Lincoln Park building. Our friends at BCDC have been involved since the groundbreaking.
As designers, we wholeheartedly approve. The brick façade is sharp, and the modern art in the lobby starkly juxtaposes the antique moldings and fixtures and mosaic tiles, a classy marriage of past and present.
This development is yet another looking glass into Newark’s future, and we like what we see. We’d like to express our excitement by inventing The Colleoni, a new celebratory sandwich (Who wants it? Tasty Too?). It’s got pastrami, lettuce, tomato, onion, hot peppers and horseradish sauce, since everyone knows that Newark is a spicy place. Don’t knock it till you try one.
